Several interesting elements in this photograph that caught my eye. The first is the beautifully colored aspens at the top of the photograph. Each grove has its own distinct color. And the second element are the cows at the center of the photograph.
If I remember correctly, while Conway Summit is right next to Hwy 395 between the Bodie turnoff and the town of Lee Vining, and given that there are several turnouts on the highway for motorists to stop and take pictures, this scene required that I stop on the shoulder next to the guardrail with cars whizzing by at 75-80 mph inches away from my car.
Of course, once people see one car stopped at that location, others join in the fun. And since one Highway Patrol vehicle drove by and didn’t seen to have an issue with my parking there, I suppose it’s ok.
