Cow, Clouds, Meadow, B&W

Sutter Creek, CA

Dug through the archives to pull this photograph from 2010.  I had ventured out late in the morning but had hope to find something, anything to shoot as there were still storm clouds in the area.  As I was shooting this composition, this cow was hot to trot and scampered into the clearing and then out.

I pulled this photograph into Silver EFex Pro and loaded up a few of the saved presets from past processing efforts.  After loading up one that was a good starting point preset, a few minor adjustments were made before exporting back into Lightroom to adjust curves.  The key for me was to highlight the texture of the clouds and make sure the cow stood out against the grass.

Yes, this isn’t exactly a B&W photograph, but I rather prefer the sepia tone as it brings that old timey, old western feel to the photo.
