Preston Castle Grounds, Palm Tree, Single Cloud, Blue-ish Hour

ISO100, 122mm, f/11, 1.3 sec

I don’t know why, but this photograph makes me smile.  There is nothing really stellar with the photograph, but the single cloud just amuses me.  It is not even really my “style”, but one of those moments when you see something you just have to take a photograph of.  So there we are!

What I find a bit curious is the presence of palm trees in this rural city.  If this were southern California?  Sure.  Even if this were the Sacramento Valley?  Sure.  But up here in the foothills?  It just seems a little odd.  The winters are cold, even freezing.  Not typical palm tree weather.  Around the castle, there are a few.  There are even a few here and there in the county that just seem so out of place.

  1. How weird. I’ve looked at the cloud a bunch and couldn’t figure out what it looked like. Now it totally makes sense. Again, sometimes when you look at something too much (or am the person that took the picture) you don’t see the photo very well anymore.
