Sacramento Skyline, Sun, Blue Ridge Mountains (CA)

3 minutes too late.  As I was driving down the hill to the Sacramento Valley on a 2-lane road, this was what was before me…except with a slight variation.  The sun was hidden behind a thinly stretched out cloud.  It made the skyline of Sacramento seem as though it was behind a layer of fog.  The effect is barely still there in this photograph.

By the time I could find another elevated location I could safely park, the sun had reemerged.
