While at the Argonaut Mine, the snow-capped Sierra Nevada mountains kept catching my eye, but were so far away that I could not work the mountains into any composition with the mine buildings with the snow looking like a small line.
(Click through the image for increased 700px resolution of intentional graininess!)
So the main options for this composition is the depth of field and area of focus. Instead of keeping everything in focus, I selected a shallow depth of field (f/5.6, which is the lowest my zoom lens could go) and place the focus on the branches in the foreground rather than the mountains.
