El Dorado Hills (CA), Burnt Weeds, Ash, Monochrome

Burning through some lingering photographs in the catalog while waiting for the next time I go out and shoot.  The composition was shot with B&W / monochrome in mind since no one in their right mind would consider these elements great for color.  Then again, it is possible in the hands of the right photographer, which is not me in this instance.

So obviously I had some fun with here in post-processing, but not as much fun as I should have had as my workstation has gradually become displeased (re: running slow to the point of not being able to move my mouse cursor) with Lightroom and Silver EFex Pro 2 running at the same time.  Maybe time for that chore of overhauling the PC to come to fruition.

EXIF data: Nikon D7000, center-weighted metering mode, ISO 100, 55mm, f/13, 1/8 sec

    1. As always, it’s great having you stop by Mike! These summer doldrums are a good excuse to stick to a few locations (if you can’t get out of town as much as has been the case this year) and work on compositions and seeing things beyond the obvious. Sometimes it works and sometimes not. It helps me in the long run to get back home and see what images were almost there, but not. More importantly, why it didn’t work.
