From memory, I could not remember seeing a nicely lit night photo of Folsom’s Rainbow Bridge. It seemed like a good idea to give it a shot. Then I arrived and realized why: there are no lights to illuminate the bridge except for the streetlights on the roadway.
While I did take a few shots of the Rainbow Bridge, the vantage point I wanted to shoot from was occupied by the couple in this photo on the adjacent Truss Bridge. After a few shots of the Rainbow Bridge while chatting with some teenagers impressed that the camera can capture anything in the dark, I trained the camera on the couple.
It was not easy composing in the dark. All I can see are the lights on the bridge, but trying to place the framework of the truss bridge is another story. In the end, it is quite a bit of trial and error.
