Sacramento, Central Plant, Panels, Stairs, Long Exposure

I had previously photographed this example of industrial “art”.  So when you are searching for something to photograph and this gem offers itself up as you are aimlessly driving the streets of downtown, you stop.

My previous attempt to shoot this building is here: Cooling Tower, Light Panels, Long Exposure

The city of Sacramento State of California owns this Central Plant to power some of the government buildings in the area.  As with facilities of this nature, a cooling tower is needed.  Yet existing residents and business would rather not see an unsightly cooling tower in their sight lines when the plant needed to be rebuilt.  The innovative solution was to skin the tower and staircase with panels resulting in a futuristic and relatively eye-pleasing appearance.

EXIF data: Nikon D7000, center weighted metering mode, ISO 320, 55mm, f/8, 25 sec

    1. Thank you David. I absolutely love this structure as it stands out from everything around it. I still need to find a composition when I can incorporate some of the background high rises. Next time!
