Calaveras County (CA), River, Rapids, Long Exposure

Though I had the entire day to go out and shoot, I settled on driving to a local state park known for two groves of Redwoods.  First, I needed some lunch.  Then an hour’s drive.  Most of the motivation was gone after lunch.  All-you-can-eat pizza does that to me.  So instead, I drove 10 minutes from my lunch location to the Mokelumne River.  3 shots over the course of an hour.  This is one of them.

The B+W 10-stop neutral-density filter was used to achieve a 51 second shutter speed on a sunny day.

  1. The part that probably didn’t need to be included was the top section with the rocks. It’s more about the water and the little bit of whitewater anyway. As for the motivation? This was a compromise location to shoot since it was too late to drive to Big Trees in Calaveras and was hoping to find something along the riverbank instead.
