Lines and intersecting lines are better when free of other elements, such as trees, debris, and anything else that distracts.  In the suburbs, sometimes that guideline is a bit difficult to follow.

I am rethinking the burn the edges approach right now too.  I should have gone through with the monochrome conversion and left it at that.  The burned edges themselves are likely a distraction to the image.
