Frankly, this was a fun shot to take while up at Coit Tower. Since anyone and everyone has taken similar photographs while they are up here, the challenge is to find a new angle. Perhaps this silhouette of the Christopher Columbus statue in front of Coit Tower is a little different than most.
I am not quite sure why the statue is here as it was not present when the tower was completed in 1933. The statue was funded by Italy and the city of San Francisco. Designed by sculptor Vittorio di Colbertaldo and dedicated on October 12, 1957.
