Autumn has arrived and thankfully it has brought along a few storms. Here in California, we are known for sunny skies and beaches, which is really more of a stereotype for the southern part of the state. Yet it still means the skies are clear during the summer, with few clouds.
At home, the nearby foothills are silhouetted against a glowing sky pre-sunrise most morning and with this recent storm the beautiful cloud texture provided a little window for the sunlight to peek through.
The composition was originally vertical as that orientation allowed me to capture as much sky as possible while omitting the trees on the property, but has been cropped square in post processing. This crop places the focus on the portion of the image that has the most texture and hopefully the most interest to the viewer.
