Sometimes there are no next times… How many times have we photographers said to ourselves we come back in the future and take a certain scene? How many times have we actually come back and come back to the similar light and atmospheric conditions that make us for that initial moment want to shoot that? Very infrequently, I suspect.
The possible empty promise to myself of being able to see this scene as I see it now resulted in me turning the car around and backtracking a couple of miles. It has been days since I have picked up the camera, so it was good to be able to take a moment and see the landscape through a viewfinder. Of course, the one thing I did not check before shooting was the ISO. It was set at 400. Luckily this photograph is bright and reduced the visible grain from the higher ISO.
