Quid pro quo.  The squirrels and birds, and now this pheasant, get bird seed and peanuts from me while I am entertained by the squirrels’ antics and satisfaction the birds have a permanent location to be well fed.  And now, I have opportunities to take close-up photographs of this very colorful male pheasant.

This bird has become accustomed to seeing me put of seed in the garden, to the point he does a trot over to me if the seed has run out.  With my only experiences with wild game birds occasionally chasing after me, I am not always ready for this trotting approach.  At least a couple of times now I have taken a step back and been in a slight defensive mode with his sudden moves towards me.
