The scrub oak foothills are slowly being converted into homes.  As the Sacramento Valley continues being built out with homes and reaching capacity, development expands outwards.  Towards the east are these rolling foothills.  Just a hop and a skip from the house (technically 3 blocks away) rises this hill that overlooks that valley and is mostly undeveloped.

According to development plans with the county, portions of this particular hillside are slated to become homes in the future.  Perhaps this tree and others nearby will be incorporated into the developers plans, but regardless, this hillside will be graded, native rock outcroppings removed and fences erected.

So while this area is still in its natural state, I have a new location to hike, enjoy the nature and the views, and take a few photographs.
